Jason Moore Welcomed As New Headmaster

Pickens Academy welcomed new Headmaster Jason Moore on May 1, 2023.

Moore succeeded interim Headmaster Bobby Beasley, and was unanimously recommended for the position by the Headmaster Search Committee after a careful search and interviews from an impressive pool of candidates.

Professional Summary

Moore holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Athens State College and a Master of Science in Management/Human Resources from Troy University. He also has an associate degree in Machine and Tool Technology and Computerized Numerical Controls from Shelton State Community College.

Since his retirement from Shelton State Community College in 2021, Moore was employed by the University of West Alabama as the Workforce Development Coordinator. Prior to his retirement, he served in various educational and administrative roles at Shelton State, with his last position being the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development. While serving as Dean, he reported to the President of the college as the leader for workforce development-related initiatives, where his responsibilities included the overall operation of the divisions of Technical Services; Adult Education; Apprenticeships; Workforce Development; and Child Development.

Family

Jason and his wife, Nisa, are both natives of Tuscaloosa and active Circlewood Baptist Church members. Their two children, Noah and McKenzie, attended American Christian Academy. Noah graduated from Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama. McKenzie is also a graduate of Shelton State and is currently attending the University of Alabama.
